SPEAKER INFORMATION

Brian T. D. Bowman, J.D., B.A. (Adv.)
Brian Bowman practices as a business lawyer with a specialization in areas related to privacy, access to information, intellectual property and technology matters. Brian is a nationally recognized leader in privacy and access to information law. He Chairs the Canadian Bar Association’s National Privacy and Access Law Section and has been acknowledged by the Canadian Privacy Law Review as one of Canada’s "leading privacy law authorities". Brian is a frequent speaker, media commentator and author. He writes a regular column entitled "On the Cutting Edge" in the Business Section of the Winnipeg Free Press. Brian is a passionate supporter of the community, being involved in numerous volunteer efforts including serving as President & CEO of the Alumni Association of the University of Manitoba.

SESSION DESCRIPTION (1 CPE Credit)

Almost daily headlines expose Canadian organizations that have lost consumer trust as a result of security and control efforts gone wrong... or not at all. Few considerations evoke such emotion from stakeholders as privacy. Our speaker, Brian Bowman, will provide an informative and timely update on privacy law developments, including an overview and update of the Winners/HomeSense data breach.
