Dan Sutton, Sergeant RCMP
Dan is the NCO in charge of the RCM Police "D" Division Integrated Technological Crime Unit (ICTCU) located in Winnipeg, MB. He is responsible for the RCMP response to IT attacks against Critical Infrastructure entities in the Province of Manitoba. To support the police response to such IT incidents. He is directly supported by subordinates and has four other subordinates available locally to assist in any such investigations.

Dan has over 33 years experience as a police officer with the RCMP, all in the Province of Manitoba. He has done front line duties as both a General Duty investigator and a Highway Patrol investigator. He has also performed investigative duties as a Commercial Crime investigator which led to his interest in and assignment to Computer Crime investigations. He has handled numerous investigations which cover pure computer crime and computer assisted crime. Forensic examinations make up over 75% of the workload of the ITCU.

SESSION DESCRIPTION (1 CPE Credit)
The presentation will cover the involvement of forensics in IT Response to an IT incident. Reference will be made to how forensics needs to be used by companies in all of their IT incident investigations whether the outcome is handled in-house or by civil or criminal remedies and the impact of poor forensic process on the outcome of Incident Response investigations.
