Global Perspective:
With more than 86,000 constituents in more than 160 countries, ISACA® is a leading global provider of knowledge, certifications, community,
advocacy and education on information systems assurance and security, enterprise governance of IT, and IT-related risk and compliance. Founded in 1969, ISACA
sponsors international conferences, publishes the ISACA® Journal, and develops international information systems auditing and control standards. It also administers
the globally respected Certified Information Systems AuditorTM (CISA®), Certified Information Security Manager®
(CISM®) and Certified in the Governance of
Enterprise IT® (CGEIT®) designations.
ISACA developed and continually updates the COBIT®, Val ITTM and Risk IT frameworks, which help IT professionals and
enterprise leaders fulfill their IT governance responsibilities and deliver value to the business.
Local Perspective: The ISACA Winnipeg Chapter is one of ten Canadian Chapters. ISACA has about 3,400 members in Canada. We encourage participation from the public and private sectors, by members and non-members, at all our Winnipeg events. We promote and encourage attendance at international conferences, professional development opportunities and training events. Chapter members come from both the private and public sectors. Our Chapter includes professionals and practitioners who are active in Information Management, IT governance, Information Security and IS Auditing. Our members include executives, managers, subject-area experts, consultants and auditors.
Here in Winnipeg we focus on providing our members with educational and informative professional development opportunities as well as opportunities to network with fellow professionals. We engage local experts and other experts from around North America to speak to the members on topics of current interest and to provide training on new IT governance, control, security and assurance issues and techniques. We encourage CISA and CISM certified individuals to keep their membership active in order maintain their connection to our professional world and maintain their annual Continuing Professional Education requirements.

CISM is the groundbreaking credential of ISACA uniquely targeting the information security management audience and has been earned by over 10,000 professionals. It is for the individual who must maintain a view of the "big picture" by managing, designing, overseeing and assessing an enterprise's information security.
CGEIT is the newest credential of ISACA uniquely targeting IT Governance audience and recognizes a wide range of professionals for their knowledge and application of IT governance principles and practices. Earning this designation will enable professionals to respond to the growing business demand for a comprehensive IT governance program that defines responsibility and accountability across the entire enterprise.
